There have been multiple reports from Calumet County residents that Chicago-based energy company, Invenergy Wind Development LLC, has been out scouting and testing land while also making pitches to residents to allow them to put wind turbines on their property. 

Some of your local Brillion leaders informed me of an increase in immigrants in the Brillion area. They pointed out that these immigrants are competing for and occupying jobs that locals could use.

Following the classic Friday afternoon vetoes of our tax cuts from Governor Evers last week, this week, he signed one Republican-authored tax credit, to help families with child care. 

Today, Governor Evers vetoed three of the four tax cuts the legislature passed a few weeks back.  Wisconsin has one of the worst tax burdens in the country while also having a surplus projected to reach $3.7 billion by the end of 2024.

This week in Madison, the state Assembly held our final days of session this year before campaign season begins.  Most of my bills have already made their way through, but we still had a very busy week as these last few bills pushed through the Assembly.  

I authored the package of judicial security bills that passed the Assembly this week with bipartisan support.  However, not all of my colleagues across the aisle voted in favor of these logical and much-needed bills.

This week, it was revealed that Wisconsin liberal Supreme Court Justice Janet Protasiewicz took campaign money from the same people who are bringing about the lawsuit over Wisconsin’s electoral maps.

On Tuesday, I held a public hearing on Assembly Joint Resolution 109, which proposes a constitutional amendment that would “prohibit any governmental entity from discriminating against, or granting preferential treatment to any individual or group on the basis of race, sex, color, ethnicity, or national origin in public employment, public education, public contracting, or public administration.”

Tonymandering (TOE-nee-man-der-ing) Noun.  
A type of gerrymandering with maximum or near-maximum punitive hostility to the opposing party. Tonymandering occurs when a legislative redistricting map purposely draws as many opposing party members into the same districts to force retirements or families to move.

Last week, the Oshkosh Women’s Fund announced that the keynote speaker for its annual Power of the Purse event on May 9th will be professional female surfer, Bethany Hamilton.
