WEC to Investigate 193 Uncounted Absentee Ballots

On Thursday, the Wisconsin Election Commission (WEC) took an unprecedented step when all six Commissioners unanimously decided to use its investigative powers for the first time in its eight-year history to delve into why nearly 200 absentee ballots in Madison were not counted during the November 5th election.

Tragic Shooting Rocks Madison Christian School

On Monday morning, a 15-year-old female student at Madison Abundant Life Christian School (ALCS) opened fire in a classroom, resulting in the deaths of teacher Erin Michelle West and student Rubi Patricia Vergara. Six others were injured, two critically, before the shooter took her own life. 

Evers Will Veto Budget if WI GOP Forces State Workers Back to Capitol Office

In an interview with WISN on Sunday, Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers tried to make a ridiculous argument for state employees to continue working from home.  Evers said, “I think it’s important for the state to be open to having people working from home, especially in parts of the state that we haven’t had a chance.”

Dane County Activist-Judge Repeals Act 10

On Monday, Dane County activist Judge Jacob Frost ruled to overturn Act 10, which was signed by Governor Walker in 2011 to end collective bargaining by state employees.  Before Act 10, Wisconsin had more than a $2 billion budget deficit.  Our taxpayers were getting consistently ripped off as we were paying more to keep state employees who were protected by tenure even if their work wasn’t up to standards.  The result was Wisconsin’s tax burden had steadily grown along with our debt.  The passage of Act 10 has saved Wisconsin taxpayers at least $16 billion.  In comparison, Wisconsin's entire budget is roughly $100 billion.  Yeah, it's a big deal!

Wisconsin Tax Burden Hits Record Low

The Wisconsin Policy Forum recently released a report analyzing Wisconsin's tax burden compared to the rest of the country.  Since the beginning of Governor Walker’s term in 2011, Wisconsin’s tax burden has steadily fallen.  In 2022 it hit a new record low at 9.9%, which is 1.2% below the national average.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction, led by State Superintendent Jill Underly (pictured above), met behind closed doors last summer to lower academic standards in Wisconsin’s Forward Exam.

Assembly Republicans Retain Majority on Tonymandered Maps

Democrats have been demanding new legislative maps for years.  They finally received a map tonymandered in their favor.  This only occurred because the liberal state Supreme Court threatened to draw their own maps which would likely have been more liberal.  Assembly Republicans were able to retain our majority on maps drawn by Governor Evers.

2023-24 Wisconsin Legislative Recap

With the passage of 2023 Wisconsin Act 105, June 1st is now the final date we can distribute any “substantially similar materials” via public funds.  That means this will be our final Recap until after the elections in November.

Biden Migrant Criminal Arrested in Fond du Lac

In the early hours of Sunday morning, the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to a private residence in Oakfield where a 12-year-old girl had knocked on their door asking for help.  The girl had broken free from an adult male who had bound and blindfolded her and ran to the nearest house to get help.

WI Supreme Court Hears Ballot Drop Box Opening Arguments

In July of 2022, the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled that state law does not allow absentee ballot drop boxes.
