You might remember Rodney “Mr. Peanuts” Esser from Park Elementary School in Cross Plains who was nominated for Custodian of the Year. Well, he was recently named Runner Up in this nationwide competition. He won $1,000 and a trip to Las Vegas! Congratulations Mr. Peanuts!

This update includes a budget update, a recap of my visit to Verona High School, visits to Waunakee teachers congratulating them on their retirement, and a recap of meetings here in the capitol.

This update covers the recent action by the Joint Finance Committee to remove over 500 items from the Governor’s budget, several committee meetings that I attended, and other goings on in the capitol.

Now that the Joint Finance Committee (JFC) public hearings around the state are done, what comes next? This week, the JFC will likely be voting to essentially gut the Governor’s budget proposal and start from scratch. 

On Wednesday, the Senate was in session for the first time in weeks. In fact, it was only the fourth senate session day this year. And we were done in less than an hour.
