E-Updates

This update includes information on the new 2023-24 Wisconsin Blue Books, recaps of visits around the district, and a summary of my time at the Great Lakes St. Lawrence Legislative Caucus 2023 Annual Meeting. Now that we are back in session, these updates will resume their weekly schedule.

Recently State Representative Mike Bare and I had the opportunity to tour ART House 360, a creative space for artists and art education in Verona.

This edition of Dianne Direct includes a recap of a healthcare summit I was able to attend in D.C., an update on redistricting in Wisconsin, and the signing of the “Bob and Bill” bill.

This edition includes an op-ed on the importance of the Right to Contraception, and adventures around the 27^th Senate District.

Now that the Legislature is out of session until the fall it is a great opportunity to explore my district. In addition to committee meetings, I was able to visit the Sauk County Fair and say farewell to my favorite weatherman.

After six long months, the budget process is over. On Wednesday, July 5^th, Governor Evers signed the 2023-2025 biennial budget into law but not before making 51 important line-item vetoes.

After nearly five months of debate and deliberation the Legislature passed the 2023-25 biennial budget. The document originally introduced by Governor Evers in February was scrapped by the Republicans and replaced with their own priorities.

Last week was a busy one. On the 1^st anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I was proud to stand with my colleagues to introduce the Right to Contraception Act. The Joint Finance Committee finished their work on the budget with a bang and I had the opportunity to go on tours in the district.

It was a very busy week here in the Legislature with both the Senate and Assembly in session on Wednesday to pass the Shared Revenue legislation. The Joint Finance Committee also took action on the budget and Child Care Counts and there were legislative lobby days as well.
