Examining Energy Shortage Concerns

GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement regarding energy conservation notices and shortage concerns in the We Energies service territory:

“Last night, I had a long discussion with Rebecca Cameron Valcq, head of the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin, regarding the unfolding situation in the We Energies territory. While I’m relieved to see we’ve made it past the most immediate concerns, we cannot simply move past this incident without doing everything we can to ensure this request for energy conservation during extreme weather events doesn’t need to happen again, whether it be this winter or in future winters. I want to thank Chair Valcq for her time and I’m very pleased to hear Chairperson Valcq and the PSC will examine this incident further and report back. As Chair of the Senate Committee on Natural Resources and Energy, I’ll continue conversations with the PSC in an ongoing effort to examine how we need to improve energy reliability in our state.”
