E-Updates

This week was a busy week with commitments. The Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety and the Committee on Local Government met this week. This week's local government public hearing highlighted AB 245, which increases shared revenue payments to local government while giving the city of Milwaukee and Milwaukee County additional tools to address their underfunded pension liabilities.

 

This week the Assembly passed a series of bills relating to Wisconsin's workforce and the state's unemployment insurance program. 

This week Senate Bill 117, open records bill authored this bill with Senator Duey Stroebel (R-Cedarburg) in response to a 2022 Wisconsin Supreme Court decision Friends of Frame Park, U.A. v. City of Waukesha passed the State Senate unanimously. This week the State Assembly also met for floor session to vote on passage of several important bills.

This week's update highlights a public hearing that I chaired in the Assembly Committee on Local Government. Assembly Committee on Agriculture met for a public hearing on Assembly Bill 133, which I co-authored with Representative Loren Oldenburg, relating to increasing farmland preservation tax credits.

This week the Assembly held a floor session to vote on the passage of several bills. My colleagues and I passed multiple bills that concentrated on improving public safety. 

This week I testified with Senator Stroebel on a bill we authored together. This update includes testimony on public records bill, session update, and Capitol meetings. 

This week's update includes a meeting I had with county sheriffs from across my district during their Badger State Sheriff Lobbying Day. As well as updates on the Committee for Criminal Justice and Public Safety.
