Student Debt
Between 2002 and 2012, primarily during Governor Jim Doyle’s tenure, UW-Madison’s tuition and fees increased more than 100% for resident undergraduates. During that same 10 year period, Wisconsin’s tuition increase was larger than all other public Midwestern Big Ten universities, according to a report written by the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau.

In 1972, Chet Krause, owner of Krause Publications and a Lions Club member, offered to buy a chicken dinner for friends and acquaintances if they would drive their old cars to the annual Iola Lions Club chicken roast.

Sports and Politics
During the 2014-2015 Milwaukee Bucks’ season, LeBron James of the Cleveland Cavaliers played 3 games at the Bradley Center. James paid about $66,000 in “jock” taxes to Wisconsin for the 3 combined games. The state directly collects $6.5 million per year from all the NBA players and team employees who contribute to the “jock” tax.

An Unborn Child's Pain
Few Supreme Court decisions are as well-known as the one issued on January 22, 1973 in Roe v. Wade. The decision balanced a woman’s right to privacy under the due process clause of the 14th Amendment and her choice to have an abortion.

Voter Photo ID
Wisconsin’s Photo ID Bill was introduced on January 27, 2011. After 4 months of hearings and debate in the legislature, Governor Walker signed it into law on May 25, 2011. In October 2011, the League of Women Voters filed a lawsuit in state court while the NAACP Milwaukee Chapter and Voces de la Frontera also filed a separate lawsuit December 2011 in state court.

Veterans - we cannot, we will not, we must not forget who they are. For they reflect America. Whether we welcome them back to civilian life upon leaving the military or we ensure their comfort in their waning years, we have an obligation to those who have risked their all for all of us.

Primary and Psychiatric Care in Wisconsin’s Underserved Areas
Mental illness affects people of all ages, spans all socio-economic classes, and includes all races and nationalities. It occurs in both men and women and doesn’t discriminate between urban and rural areas. Families, schools, employers, and communities are all impacted by a person with mental illness.

Honoring the Honor Flight
Besides debating legislation on issues affecting Wisconsin, as a State Representative I am privileged to honor people who selflessly go above and beyond the ordinary. Men and women serving as Honor Flight Network volunteers were recognized October 15th in front of the entire State Assembly.
