State Capitol Tours
Individuals, groups, schools, and civic organizations are welcome to visit the Capitol. Listed in 2001 as a National Historic Landmark, our Capitol is certainly one of the most beautiful in the country. Nestled between Lake Mendota and Lake Monona, our Capitol stands just 3 feet shorter than the Nation’s Capital and has the largest dome by circumference in the nation.
Free tours of the State Capitol are offered daily, year round. Tours depart from the ground floor Information Desk Monday through Saturday at 9:00, 10:00, 11:00 am and 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 pm; and Sundays at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 pm. A 4:00 pm tour is offered Memorial Day through Labor Day. The sixth floor museum and observation deck are open during the summer months. The How a Bill Becomes a Law booklet published by the Assembly Chief Clerk. You can request copies from my office or view it online. It describes the legislative process, and provides tips for contacting your representatives and using the Legislature's website.
