Senate Honors Memory of Dr. Alfred Tector Jr.

MADISON– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after the state Senate passed 2021 Senate Joint Resolution (SJR) 14 on a voice vote. SJR 14 – authored by Senators Darling (R-River Hills) and Cowles and Representatives Knodl (R-Germantown) and Andraca (D-Whitefish Bay) – honors the life and service and recognizes the accomplishments of Dr. Alfred J. “Cy” Tector Jr.:

“Dr. Tector was a man ahead of his time as one of the first performing complex open-heart operations. His inventions, innovations, and research will stand the test of time as advancing medicine to the point where we are now, and the families and friends of his more than 14,000 open-heart surgeries can put a face to the name of this top-notch Wisconsin physician. But my co-authorship and vote don’t just reflect gratitude for Dr. Tector for his overall work, but rather focus on my personal connection as my mother was one of his patients and underwent a successful surgery with first-rate bedside manner. Today, with this resolution, we honor his accomplishments and service.”
