Looking Forward to Leading Policy Discussions on  Natural Resources and Energy for Two More Years

MADISON– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after Senate Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald (R-Juneau) announced that Senator Cowles will serve as Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee for the 2019-2020 Legislative Session:

“I’m very pleased to be returning as Chair of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee for a third consecutive session. Time after time, I’ve heard from constituents and community leaders about the importance of responsible policies that preserve and promote our natural resources without unnecessarily impeding on our business community. I’ve been proud to have a front row seat to the discussions that create innovative natural resources and energy policy in our State Capitol for the past four years, and I look forward to two more years.

“As Chair of this Committee in prior sessions, we’ve been able to advance responsible natural resources and energy policy that not only has ensured clean air and water, but helped to improve human health, bolstered tourism, worked with Wisconsin farmers, considered the needs of local governments, and promoted manufacturing and Wisconsin’s economy. I plan on continuing to draft and advance policies that meet these goals in the upcoming legislative session.

“I appreciate the opportunity to continue serving as the Chairman of the Senate Natural Resources and Energy Committee. I hope to continue hearing from my constituents and the people of Wisconsin with their natural resources and energy concerns, and I look forward to working with my colleagues and the incoming administration on the challenges and successes that lie ahead in the next two years.”
