MADISON… The Evers Administration’s shifting blame for its failure to restore and preserve the historic 90-year-old Potawatomi State Park Observation Tower shows it simply does not want to do the project and never has, State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere) said today.

MADISON, WI… In one of the more surprising outcomes of this legislative session, State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere) praised the enactment of a new pro-life measure contained in 2021 Senate Bill 259 (now 2021 Act 251), signed into law by Gov. Tony Evers on Friday afternoon. Amended into the genetic counselor licensing legislation is a key protection against lethal discrimination on the basis of a genetic condition, enshrining as a prohibited practice for licensees that “A genetic counselor may not encourage an expectant parent to obtain an elective abortion.”

MADISON, WI… Gov. Evers vetoed a number of public safety bills authored by Sen. While the introduction of the vetoed bills successfully pressured the Governor to finally authorize some ARPA funding for law enforcement as so many other states had done, many other opportunities to invest in public safety fell by the wayside.

MADISON, WI … Our rich Wisconsin historical legacy is at risk after Gov. Evers vetoed stronger protections for public monuments on Friday afternoon, according to State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere).

State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere), lead Senate co-author, and Assembly co-author Rep. Shae Sortwell (R-Gibson), said this new law is a common sense expansion of the original 2017 Dillon’s Law that will make saving lives even easier.

“I have been pleased to work with Gibraltar Town Administrator Travis Thyssen to help the town construct much-needed workforce housing for the area,” Sen. Jacque said. “While a shortage of affordable housing is a concern throughout the state, the high property values in northern Door County make the problem particularly severe and I am pleased with the extremely high level of local support for this project.”

“As the voice of those I represent in the State Senate, I wanted to update my constituents on our 1st District legislative agenda,” Sen. Jacque said. “It has been a very productive period, with about twenty of my bills signed into law so far this session, thanks to the input I receive from those I represent.”

MADISON… Communities could protect more of the heroes who protect them under two pieces of legislation passed by the State Senate today that expand eligibility for mental health coverage under the “Public Safety PTSD Coverage Act” that became law last April.
