SEN. JACQUE’S BILL TO EMPOWER THE DISABLED CLEARS SENATE

MADISON, WI… Wisconsin’s efforts to empower individuals with disabilities continued today as the State Senate passed legislation creating tax-exempt savings accounts to help cover the cost of services that help those with physical and cognitive challenges live full, independent lives. The bill also unanimously cleared an Assembly committee last month.

MADISON… “Dillon’s Law 3.0,” which further expands the availability of epinephrine auto-injectors for individuals having a life-threatening allergic reaction, is on its way to the Governor’s desk after passing the State Assembly today.

MADISON… Environmental legislation promoting a number of best practices and initiatives that would enable Wisconsin agriculture to generate income while reducing runoff into our waters cleared the State Senate today in a unanimous voice vote.

MADISON… The Potawatomi State Park Observation Tower is a big step closer to reopening. The Legislature’s budget committee last night approved the $500,000 requested by two area lawmakers to preserve the existing Tower, after rejecting an expensive rebuild proposed by Gov. Evers that would have cost over ten times as much and virtually destroyed the historic structure.

MADISON… More disabled veterans would become eligible for property tax relief under bipartisan legislation introduced yesterday by two state lawmakers. Today, Governor Tony Evers’ office announced that this initiative would be included in his 2023-‘25 state budget proposal.

MADISON… Patients would receive protections from rising health care costs by ensuring that health plans count copay assistance toward a patient’s maximum out-of-pocket cost or annual deductible, under bipartisan legislation introduced today by a Northeast Wisconsin lawmaker.
