MADISON… To address increasingly acute shortages of licensed professionals in a number of critical fields, and the resulting stresses on the remaining professionals in their fields and public at large, the State Senate today passed legislation with bi-partisan support establishing reciprocal licensing in Wisconsin to attract skilled workers who are already credentialed in another state.

State Sen. André Jacque (R-De Pere) and State Rep. Shae Sortwell (R-Gibson), who introduced the bipartisan Local Government Special Election Cost Relief Act, said a Governor’s call for any special election (and possible primary) outside the normal cycle currently puts municipalities on the hook for significant costs that can easily exceed a hundred thousand dollars across a single Assembly District alone, regardless of turnout.

MADISON… Veterans and members of the U.S. armed forces will have greater access to Wisconsin’s public higher education institutions - and incentive to keep their skills in the state - under legislation waiving their application fees, which cleared the Assembly Committee on Colleges and Universities today in a unanimous vote.

MADISON… The Potawatomi State Park Observation Tower has taken another huge step closer to reopening. On Wednesday, Governor Evers approved the $500,000 requested by two area lawmakers to preserve the existing Tower.
