One of my top concerns in this budget is fixing the shared revenue problem. Cities and villages across the state are struggling to meet the obligations expected of them, and the state needs to help. Over the past 20 years, the amount of money that Madison sends to local governments has steadily decreased.

Every two years the governor, together with state legislators, craft a budget to fund state operations. The state budget touches everything you do on a daily basis, from the taxes you pay, the schools your children or grandchildren attend, the highways you travel, to the sense of security you feel because public safety needs are being met.
