Madison, WI – After the release of the nonpartisan Legislative Audit Bureau’s report on the 2020 presidential election and the findings of Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling in his investigation, Representative Rick Gundrum (R-Slinger) has issued the following statement:
“Between the results of Wisconsin’s Legislative Audit Bureau and yesterday’s announcement from the Racine County Sheriff’s Office, I cannot see how the current administrator of the Wisconsin Election Commission can rebuild its tarnished reputation. I join my legislative colleagues in calling for Wisconsin Election Commission Administrator Meagan Wolfe’s resignation.
“As Racine County Sheriff Christopher Schmaling said, this investigation was not launched to change the election results of the 2020 presidential election. Citizens across Wisconsin deserve to trust that elections are carried out in a fair and safe manner. Presently, the Wisconsin Elections Commission blatantly ignores and fails to enforce election law. A new administrator, combined with legislation to tighten up security in our elections, can once again restore the people’s faith in our electoral process.”
