While the Assembly is no longer in session, my work as your State Representative continues. I sit on the Joint Finance Committee (JFC), which will continue to meet periodically for the rest of the year as we address requests from state agencies and release funding for various projects. JFC met on Tuesday morning to approve a few proposals.

The Wisconsin Assembly met for a Special Session on Wednesday to pass a compromise bill negotiated between the Governor, Assembly Speaker, and Senate Majority Leader to return the surplus, help Wisconsin families cope with rising costs, and support K-12 education. Unfortunately, the State Senate failed to concur on the bill.

When I decided to run for office 13 years ago, it was one of the most difficult decisions I had ever made. Choosing to run was not something I took lightly. My son was only three years old, and my biggest concern then was whether I could give enough time to him, to my family, and to the community I loved and hoped to represent.

Over the last few months, several of you have contacted me regarding support for the FoodShare program, which is Wisconsin's implementation of the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), a federal program designed to boost low-income families' access to nutrition.
