Steffen. “The logistical and financial challenges of getting to and from work is a primary reason
so few in the visually impaired community are employed.”

“Being treated with dignity and basic privacy is something that every student should expect
when they enter our schools. The event at Suring revealed a statutory loophole that needed to be
closed,” said Rep. Steffen. “This bill will protect our students from experiencing such intrusive
searches in the future and I am pleased that it has been signed into law.”

“We are one step closer to a tax-free retirement in Wisconsin. Our retirees are invaluable to our communities and our economy. I urge Governor Evers to sign this bill, which is key to making Wisconsin a more affordable place to retire,” said Rep. Steffen.

“Sadly, throughout the course of this Task Force, we learned just how prevalent the issue of trafficking
is in our state. As lawmakers, we are responsible for shaping the laws that rule this state and it’s clear
that more needs to be done legislatively to address this issue. While there isn’t a simple solution,
certainly empowering survivors of trafficking to exercise the full extent of the law is an important piece
to ensuring justice is served,” said Rep. Steffen

“Today’s vote was a win for Wisconsin’s current and future retirees. We know the devastating impact that
record high inflation has had on our fixed income seniors. We also know how invaluable our retirees are
to our communities and our economy. Rather than continuing to overtax our residents by billions of
dollars, this legislation reduces the tax burden to help keep Wisconsin retirees right here in Wisconsin,”
