Thousands of Wisconsinites rely on the flexibility of gig economy platforms like DoorDash, Instacart, and Uber to earn money on their own terms. Now, thanks to groundbreaking legislation from Senator Julian Bradley (R–New Berlin), those workers could soon gain access to important benefits—without sacrificing the independence that drew them to the gig economy in the first place.

Following last week’s unanimous vote in the Assembly Ways and Means Committee, a bill that aims to attract film production to Wisconsin continued to build momentum with a successful hearing in the Senate Committee on Utilities, Technology, and Tourism.

A bill aimed at injecting new life into Wisconsin’s film industry received a hearing today in the Assembly Ways and Means Committee. The proposal, authored by Sen. Julian Bradley (R-New Berlin) and Rep. David Armstrong (R-Rice Lake), would establish a dedicated state film office and implement targeted film production tax credits to attract filmmakers and productions to Wisconsin.

Today a group of Republican lawmakers, including members of the State Assembly and State Senate, introduced Wisconsin’s Red Tape Reset -- a package of bills to cut red tape, strengthen oversight of agency regulations and ensure a more accountable regulatory . Currently, Wisconsin is the 13th most regulated state in the country, and the 2nd most regulated in the Midwest, with more than 160,000 regulatory restrictions in the administrative code.

Today, State Representatives David Steffen (R-Howard), Shae Sortwell (R-Two Rivers), and State Senator Julian Bradley (R-New Berlin) testified at a public hearing on a bipartisan pair of bills that will move Wisconsin forward in the nuclear energy space. Under the proposals, the state will conduct a nuclear power siting study and host the Wisconsin Nuclear Power Summit.
