After nearly five months of debate and deliberation the Legislature passed the 2023-25 biennial budget. The document originally introduced by Governor Evers in February was scrapped by the Republicans and replaced with their own priorities.

Last week was a busy one. On the 1st anniversary of the overturning of Roe v. Wade, I was proud to stand with my colleagues to introduce the Right to Contraception Act. The Joint Finance Committee finished their work on the budget with a bang and I had the opportunity to go on tours in the district.

It was a very busy week here in the Legislature with both the Senate and Assembly in session on Wednesday to pass the Shared Revenue legislation. The Joint Finance Committee also took action on the budget and Child Care Counts and there were legislative lobby days as well.

You might remember Rodney “Mr. Peanuts” Esser from Park Elementary School in Cross Plains who was nominated for Custodian of the Year. Well, he was recently named Runner Up in this nationwide competition. He won $1,000 and a trip to Las Vegas! Congratulations Mr. Peanuts!
