SUMMARY

We have completed a limited-scope review of the Public Sector Safety Program, which establishes and enforces occupational safety and health standards for state and local government employees. During our review period, program staff investigated 30 of 44 complaints received. Complaint investigations were generally timely and violations were corrected. More effective use of existing information systems could improve program efficiency.
