Eyes are on the state of Wisconsin as the Republican National Convention will be held in Milwaukee July 15-18th. Some of the election-related bills taken up by the Legislature are highlighted, as well as the Spring ballot questions to amend the state constitution.

Gov. Evers says Wisconsin can't afford to give back any money to retirees on fixed income and hardworking young families. Actually, Wisconsin can afford it - we have a $4 billion surplus. The tax burden on our state is driving people out - and that is what we can't afford

Wisconsin is in good fiscal shape. When Wisconsin has more income than expenses, that money should be returned to taxpayers - not spent on more government. I voted to return $2.1 billion in taxes to hard-working Wisconsinites, families, and retirees.

Wisconsin taxpayers spend nearly $32 million a year on 200 administrators dedicated to DEI. Students at UW system schools pay thousands in tuition expecting to learn skills - not to be told what to think - which is unfortunately what most DEI does.

It was recently my honor and privilege to present Chief Herb Stuckart with this award from the 82nd Assembly District for his 48 years of public safety service. First Responders from each Assembly district gathered on October 17 for the ceremony in the Assembly Chambers.

The State of Wisconsin leases the Brewers Stadium through the Southeast Wisconsin Professional Baseball Park District. As such, the state is responsible for deciding how best to maintain the ballpark as well as pay for necessary upgrades.

The tourism industry in Wisconsin boasts a $23.7 billion economic impact to our state. It is a major economic driver in Wisconsin. If you're still looking for some outings before school starts, the state's tourism website is a good place to start. So is the Wisconsin State Fair which starts August 3rd and runs through August 13th.

When Governor Evers signed the state budget last week, he vetoed income tax cuts averaging $573 per filer, according to the non-partisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau. Instead, total income tax relief under the Evers budget for 2023 will now be a mere $36 per tax filer. The difference between our Republican Legislature and Democratic Governor could not be more stark.

This budget brings much needed tax relief for Wisconsinites while at the same time funding critical services of government - public safety, infrastructure, and education. The tax cuts total $4.4 billion.
