Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization

Representative Bob Donovan is the Chairman of the newly formed Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization for the 2025-2026 Session. Once thriving hubs of commerce, culture, and innovation, urban centers have faced significant challenges in reclaiming their former vibrancy.

The Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization will focus on legislation aimed at fostering economic development, addressing neighborhood decay, and enhancing public safety. By collaborating with local leaders, community organizations, and private stakeholders, the committee seeks to address issues that have hindered growth and opportunity in Wisconsin’s urban areas.

  • Committee on Local Government (Vice-Chair)
  • Committee on Criminal Justice and Public Safety
  • Committee on Judiciary
As an Alderman, my goal was always to make Milwaukee a better place to live and build a family. Now, in the State Assembly, I want to carry that mission forward for all urban areas across Wisconsin, ensuring that every community has the support it needs to thrive.

Police Staffing: The Struggles of Modern Policing

Without proper public safety, how can a society thrive? That is a question that I believe can only be answered simply--it can't thrive. Public safety is vital to the success of any community, including our urban areas. As Chairman of the Assembly Committee on Urban Revitalization, I held an informational hearing on the state of police recruitment and retention efforts from across the state.

The message was clear; there is more work to be done. For years, Wisconsin has seen a steady decline of individuals entering into the police profession. I invited a number of sheriffs and police chiefs to give their honest assessment of the situation.
