Statement on Governor’s Budget Proposal

Madison, WI – Rep. Rick Gundrum (R-Slinger) has issued the following statement after Governor Tony Evers announced his 2021-2023 budget proposal:

“What we are seeing from Governor Evers is a proposal that includes runaway government spending, punishing tax hikes, and no fiscal discipline. This budget proposal is unacceptable at a time when Wisconsinites are trying to financially recover from the COVID-19 pandemic and the stay-at-home order from last spring. I am also deeply concerned eliminating Act 10 will lead to long-term damage for the financial health of Wisconsin. Act 10 has saved Wisconsin taxpayers nearly $14 billion since enacted.

“The state legislature must reject the radical budget Governor Evers has proposed and work on sound conservative budgeting that benefits all the people of Wisconsin.”
