About Rick
Rick Gundrum was born in Nenno, Wisconsin in the northwestern corner of Washington County. When he was two, his family moved to Hartford. While in Hartford he attended St. Killian Catholic School and Hartford Union High School. His family roots in Washington County go back five generations.
After graduating high school he earned his Associate's degree from University of Wisconsin-Washington County and his Bachelor's degree in Radio-TV-Film from University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. Rick spent his career in the radio broadcast industry as "Rick McKay" at radio stations WMIL Milwaukee, WJZI Milwaukee, WBWI West Bend, and WTKM Hartford. In 2000, he opened his own broadcast media business called McKay Enterprises.
Rick currently resides in Slinger with his wife Lois, where he is a member of St. Peter Catholic Church and the Slinger Advancement Association. He has been active in local government for many years. He served on the Washington County Board of Supervisors from 2006 to 2018, served as Chair of the Washington County Board from 2016 to 2018, and served on the Slinger Village Board from 2009 to 2023.
When Representative Bob Gannon passed away in 2017, Rick ran in a special election to fill the vacancy. He won the special election in January 2018 and has been re-elected ever since.
