Meet Paul

Representative Paul Melotik was elected to the 24th Assembly District in a special election in July of 2023 and re-elected again in November of 2024 to the newly drawn 22nd Assembly District. Representative Melotik currently serves as Chairman of the Committee on Workforce Development, Labor, and Integrated Employment and also on the Criminal Justice and Public Safety Committee, the Education Committee, the Forestry, Parks and Outdoor Recreation Committee, the Jobs and Economy Committee, the Small Business Development Committee and the Joint Committee on Information, Policy and Technology

Representative Melotik was born in 1957 and has resided in Southeastern Wisconsin his entire life. He first lived in Milwaukee then West Allis where he graduated from West Allis Hale in 1975. He then attended Carroll College in Waukesha, graduating with a double major in Business Administration and Accounting in 1979. While at Carroll College, Rep. Melotik played football and baseball. In football he earned All-Conference honors and his team was Conference Champions in 1977.

After college, Paul worked as an accounting analyst at the Wisconsin Electric Power Company before moving into the small business world. Paul has been owner/operator of several small businesses over his career. After college, Paul along with his fraternity brother purchased Club 400 Bar and Grill in Waukesha, beginning his small business owning career. From there, he moved to other establishments in Whitewater and Milwaukee, most notably, Flannery’s Bar and Restaurant and McGillycuddy’s on Water Street. During this time Paul also served as President of the Water Street Business Association for 10 years.  Currently Paul is part owner of the Fire Ridge Golf Course in Grafton.

While in business, Paul became interested in Politics. Paul served 12 years on the Ozaukee County Board, first being elected in 2012. During his time on the board he took on additional leadership roles and served as 1st Vice Chair, Finance Committee Chairperson and Public Safety Committee Chairperson. From 2016-2023, Paul also served on the Town of Grafton Town Board as a Supervisor. Paul was also a member of the Grafton Library board from 2021-2023. 

Paul and his wife Wendy have lived in Grafton for over 25 years where they raised their 4 children. Paul and Wendy are very active in their community, particularly at St. Joseph’s Parish in Grafton. Wendy taught Christian Formation for 12 years and Paul served as Athletic Director for 10 years. Paul also has coach numerous sports that his children were involved in and also is a WIAA referee for basketball!
