About Peter

Representative Peter Schmidt was first elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2022 and is currently serving his first term as State Representative.

Born in 1992, Schmidt is a lifelong Shawano County resident, graduating from Bonduel High School in 2010. He attended the University of Wisconsin – Stevens Point.  Schmidt graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree, double majoring in Political Science and Spanish in 2013.

After college, Schmidt continued his farming career on the family farm, along with his parents and siblings. The Schmidt Farm has been in his family since the 1950s; was expanded in the 1970s and again in the 1990s. He is a co-owner and operator of the farm, which has 1600 head of dairy cattle as well as forages.

While working on the family farm, Schmidt continues to enjoy being active in his community. He has a passion for public service and working to help others. He was elected as a Shawano County Board Supervisor in 2018 and served on the board until 2020. As a former Shawano County Board Member, he worked to improve our tourism appeal by streamlining ATV rules, refinancing bonds to save taxpayers money, upgrading our 911 system and jail security, and closing loopholes that protect our youth from harmful e-Nicotine devices.

He was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly in 2022. He represents the 6th Assembly District which includes Brown, Outagamie, Shawano, and Waupaca Counties.

Schmidt resides in Bonduel, Wisconsin.
