Senate Passes Vital Engineering Building Funding

MADISON – Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) released the following statement after the State Senate passed Senate Bill 895. Senate Bill 895 was authored by Senators Marklein, Cowles, and LeMahieu, as well as Representatives Born, Wittke, and Vos, and will build a series of projects at UW System campuses statewide, including a new Engineering Building at UW-Madison:

“In my visits to businesses and factories across the 2nd Senate District, what I almost universally hear from community leaders is the need for more engineers not only in our local economy, but throughout the state of Wisconsin,” Senator Cowles stated.

“The Senate’s action today to pass the funding for a new Engineering Building at UW-Madison, our state’s flagship university, will put new boots on the ground in our workforce for decades to come. Engineers of all kind – aeronautical, civil, chemical, mechanical, and more – both build the world we live and work in today, and solve the problems of the future. Today’s vote will help to build important educational assets for Wisconsin’s economic prosperity, securing our state as a wonderful place to live, learn, and work for citizens of Wisconsin.”
