WISCONSIN HISTORY PROJECT

Since 1901, the LRB has compiled key information relating to the actions and operations of the Wisconsin Legislature. The LRB’s archives contain copies of all introduced bills and resolutions, session laws, session statutes, and senate and assembly journals throughout state history, as well as legislative drafting files from 1927 to the present. The LRB provides access to these and other publications relevant to the state legislature and its history.

Members of the Wisconsin History Project build on the LRB’s collections by producing original research on legislative history. Topics of investigation include important events, notable legislators, and laws that shaped the lives of people across the state. Additionally, project members conduct and transcribe oral history interviews with state senators and representatives as they prepare to leave office. Over time, these efforts will provide a more comprehensive account of the members and operations of the legislature.
