The Deputy Sergeant at Arms is a nonpartisan, management-level position within the Sergeant at Arms’ Office. The Deputy Sergeant at Arms provides supervisory and administrative support work in the Sergeant at Arms’ Office, including but not limited to supervising office staff, scheduling messenger staff, and assisting in the hiring of office staff. This position’s work is performed under the direction of the Sergeant at Arms, and in the temporary absence of the Sergeant at Arms, this position will serve as a back-up to fulfill the duties of the Sergeant at Arms’ position.

The Operations Officer - Administration is a nonpartisan, management-level position within the Sergeant at Arms’ Office. The Operations Officer - Administration performs administrative support work for the office, including but not limited to the supervision and management of the daily duties of Messenger and mailroom staff, assisting with the hiring of Messenger staff, evaluating and improving the operational systems of the office, monitoring/managing the online portal Senate Requests, updating office processes, overseeing inventory management, proactively procuring supplies to maintain stock levels, managing the flag certificate and citation process (in coordination with the Senate Chief Clerk’s Office to ensure that the citations are properly recorded), and ensuring an efficient/effective office workflow/quality assurance check and balance. This position’s work is performed under the direction of the Sergeant at Arms, Deputy Sergeant at Arms.

The Operational Officer – Security is a nonpartisan, management level position within the Sergeant at Arms’ Office. This position serves as a liaison with the Wisconsin Capitol Police and other law enforcement agencies, is the primary coordinator of the Continuity of Operations (COOP) and the Continuity of Government (COOG) programs, performs administrative support work for the office, assists in the hiring and management of Messenger/Page staff, assists with the safety of all committees and Senate floor sessions, and aids with the development of long term office planning. This position’s work is performed under the direction of the Sergeant at Arms and Deputy Sergeant at Arms.

The Legislative Services Specialist is a nonpartisan, management level position within the Sergeant at Arms’ Office. The Legislative Services Specialist performs administrative support work for the office, including but not limited to the supervision and management of the daily duties and hiring of Messengers and Pages, evaluating and improving the operational systems of the office, is responsible for overseeing key and access card records for all Senate employees, ensuring overall safety and security needs are being met for the Senate, and ensuring an efficient/effective office workflow/quality assurance check and balance while also supporting Operations Officers. This position’s work is performed under the direction of the Sergeant at Arms.
