Welcome to my E-Update

I would like to thank all of you for taking the time to read through my newsletter. Each week, I'll include information to keep you up to date with what's happening in Madison and the 30th Senate District.

Inauguration

On January 4, 2021, I was inaugurated to serve my first term in the Wisconsin State Senate representing the 30th Senate District.

The 30th Senate District includes parts of Brown, Oconto, and Marinette Counites.

Step Towards Re Opening Schools

Last month, I testified on Senate Bill 6, under the bill, during the remainder of the 2020-21 school year and during the 2021-22 school year, a school board may not close a school building to in-person instruction or to in-person instruction for a specific grade or grades for a period that exceeds 14 consecutive days.

Unconstitutional Emergency Order

Last week, the Legislature overturned the Governor's illegal emergency order. I took an oath of office, as a State Senator, to uphold the laws of our state constitution and do my duties of this office, faithfully and impartially. Our governor has violated state statute, which means he violated the law. We have three branches of government for a reason, to ensure accountability. This has never been about "masks" this is about the Governor abusing his power. After the Legislature overturned the illegal emergency order, the Governor ordered another illegal emergency order. This needs to be settled in court.

Marinette Marine Breaks Ground On New Building

The new building know as "Building 34", will be used to construct the Navy's new Frigate-class ships, once all is completed.

Building 34 will be able to build up to two ships at a time.

The timeline for the building to be open is the end of the year.

Bart Starr Memorial Bridge

Earlier this week, Representatives Steffen, Macco, Shelton and I introduced legislation that would rename the Walnut Street Bridge to the Bart Starr Bridge in honor of Green Bay Packers former quarterback, Bart Starr.

Committees

This session I'll be serving on the following committees.

I'm looking forward to working on each of these with many of my colleagues.
