Returning Your Money, Protecting Women's Sports, and Cutting Red Tape

When the government runs a surplus, it means Madison took in more of your money than it needed. That’s why I co-authored legislation to return a portion of Wisconsin’s budget surplus directly to the taxpayers who made it possible. The proposal would provide rebate checks of up to $1,000 for married couples filing jointly and $500 for individuals, delivering meaningful relief and reinforcing a simple principle: when the state collects more than it needs, taxpayers deserve a refund.

Back in June, I wrote to you about cutting-edge legislation I authored to enforce hospital price transparency in Wisconsin. 80% of health care services are shoppable, and you deserve the ability to shop for your health care. Many readers signed the petition I shared, and your advocacy is driving results. We kicked off the year with a successful public hearing in Senator Kapenga's committee, and on Friday the bill passed out of committee with strong bi-partisan support. But we're not done yet. Lobbyists are fighting tooth and nail against this bill, and we need to stand united to get this done. Athletes, Ornaments, & a Merry Christmas

I really enjoy showcasing the talent in the 28th District, so in my last e-update, I offered students from District 28 an additional chance to have their ornaments displayed in the capitol. Well I asked, and St. Joseph's in Big Bend and Park View Middle School in Mukwonago delivered! Take a look at the unboxing video we filmed above. A Major Step Toward Improving One of Wisconsin's Most Dangerous Highways

The Transportation Projects Commission’s vote to advance the I-94 westbound expansion study is a major win for Waukesha County and everyone who relies on this critical corridor. For years, heavy traffic, outdated design features, and frequent crashes have made this stretch of I-94 one of Wisconsin’s most dangerous and congested. Advancing the study moves this long-overdue project into its next phase and allows engineers to evaluate safety improvements, congestion relief, and modernization options.

Following the tragic assassinations of Minnesota State Representative Melissa Hortman and conservative activist Charlie Kirk, and the shocking attempt on President Trump’s life, many are asking how our nation can overcome the divisions tearing at its fabric. This Thanksgiving offers us a chance to begin that work, and it all starts with honest conversation around the family table.

No Kings! (including Tony Evers)

"No Kings”, huh? Governor Evers used the flick of a veto pen to play monarch, raising taxes on homeowners for 400 years. Today, a constitutional amendment I co-authored to restore balance and stop this sort of royal rewrite got a hearing. It’s time to end this abuse of power. This amendment right-sizes the veto, restores a much-needed balance, and protects the people from the overreach of a wannabe monarch. Today marks the 1,000th consecutive day that Milwaukee police officers have been forced to work without a contract, a disgraceful milestone that reflects the city’s broken priorities. Instead of honoring the men and women who keep Milwaukee safe, City Hall has chosen to drag out negotiations and now, they appear prepared to spend taxpayer dollars on outside lawyers to fight its own police force at the bargaining table.
