Today’s arrest of a sitting judge, at the Milwaukee County Courthouse, is a frightening escalation of the Trump Administration’s attacks on America’s judicial system. This is part of a pattern by this Administration – defying court orders, flouting the democratic system of checks and balances, ignoring the right to due process, and threatening judicial independence – that alarms us as legislators and as residents of this great state and this great country. “Budgets are about values and priorities,” Senator Hesselbein said. “Governor Evers’ proposal supports our public schools, lowers costs for Wisconsin families, ensures access to affordable child care, invests in our farmers, protects our environment, and improves our roads. With the chaos at the Federal level, it is more important than ever to hear from the people I serve about what is most important to them and the concerns they have.”

As Wisconsin families and businesses work to keep their heads above water in a tough
economy, the last thing we need is another round of reckless tariffs that will drive up costs and
hurt our farmers, manufacturers, and working families. Instead of short-sighted trade wars, we
should be working on smart, targeted policies that protect Wisconsin jobs.

State Senator Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) and State Representative Mike Bare (D-Verona) announced today that they will be hosting three listening sessions on Saturday, April 5th. These listening sessions will be an opportunity for constituents to share their thoughts about the 2025-2027 biennial state budget introduced by Governor Evers in February.

Tonight, Governor Evers made it clear - Wisconsinites are tired of being nickeled and dimed. The Governor’s budget proposal will help lower everyday costs for working people and improve the lives of residents across our state.

As Senators and Representatives representing thousands of constituents across our state, and elected officials who care about the livelihoods of every Wisconsinite and the health of our democracy, we write today with a deep sense of alarm about the Trump Administration's recent actions and their impact on everyday Americans.

This week, a coalition of congressional leaders, including Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-Wisconsin), introduced the federal Right to Contraception Act that would create a statutory right for individuals to obtain and use contraception and for health care providers to provide it.  Similar state-level legislation to establish the Right to Contraception in Wisconsin was introduced by Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) and Senator Dianne Hesselbein (D-Middleton) last year
