  • As defined in the APRN Modernization Act, Nurse Practitioners (NPs), Certified Nurse Midwives (CNMs), Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), and Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNs) are APRNs
  • As of 2022, 7,996 of these professionals are licensed in Wisconsin
    • This marks a 32% increase from 2018
    • 81% of are NPs
      • Family Nurse Practitioner is the most common certification among NPs – 55%
    • 93% provide direct care
    • 91% have prescriptive authority
      • This marks a 55% increase from 2018
    • Advanced practice nurses providing mental health services increased from 21% to 43% between 2018 and 2020
  • 88% of advanced practice nurses are female
