Madison, WI – This evening, Governor Evers gave his eighth and final State of the State address. The Governor first highlighted past accomplishments, including paying off $3 billion of the state deficit, expanding child care tax credits for working families, and providing Medicaid coverage for telehealth services, before calling upon the Wisconsin State Legislature to work together to find bipartisan solutions to address the rising costs of living. Senator Kristin Dassler-Alfheim (D-Appleton) released the following statement in response: 

“We are in the midst of an affordability crisis. This is the number one issue that we should be focusing on right now, and Governor Evers and legislative Democrats have been committed to lowering costs and improving lives since the start of session over a year ago. Time is running out in the legislative session to take action on the proposals we’ve put forth that would immediately lower costs for families, and I hope that Republicans will join us at the negotiation table to work something out,” said the Senator.
