Madison – The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction’s recently released general equalization aid estimates for the 2014-15 school year show school districts in the 37th Assembly District will receive a significant increase in aid from the state. In addition these schools are set to further benefit from the per pupil categorical aid included in the current biennial budget. State Representative John Jagler (R-Watertown) was pleased to see these preliminary numbers.
“Over the last session I was committed to allocating more money to our schools. The budget we passed not only achieved this as these numbers indicate, but coupled with other reforms allowed for almost $2 billion in property and income tax relief,” Jagler said.
A recent memo from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau projected a $2,687,850, or 5.37% increase in total general equalization aid and per pupil categorical funding between the Columbus, DeForest Area, Waterloo and Watertown Unified school districts. Funds are expected to increase by $148,245,252, or 3.4% statewide.
“While the school funding formula is not without issues, our reforms have given school districts in the 37th Assembly District more funds to work with, offering local school boards more options as they prepare for the upcoming school year.” Jagler said. “I look forward to building on these improvements and continuing to support our schools into the next legislative session.”
