MILWAUKEE – Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee), Ranking Democrat on the Committee on Joint Finance is hosting two budget listening sessions in Milwaukee. "To better accommodate the needs of constituents, I am holding additional listening sessions on Governor Walker's proposed 2015-17 budget" said Taylor. With the Republican controlled leadership of the committee only agreeing to host four public hearings around the entire state, Democrats have answered calls from residents to provide more opportunities for public input. "People have traveled for hours to let us know the detrimental effects of the administration's proposed budget. Not everyone has the ability to travel that far or take off work, to spend a day at a hearing. More options should have been offered" Taylor said. Information for the hearings is as follows:
The first of two sessions will be held on Thursday, April 9th at the Washington Park Senior Center, 4420 W. Vliet Street. The event will run from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM. The public is encouraged to attend and provide testimony on their budget concerns.
The second session will be held on Saturday, April 11th at Brentwood Church of Christ, 6425 N. 60th Street. This event will run from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.
