A Biden-era policy established so-called “protected areas” – like schools, medical facilities, and places of worship – where immigration enforcement was restricted. That way, the guidelines stated, people would be able to access essential services without fear of deportation. President Trump rolled back those guidelines last month as one of his first actions back in the Oval Office. Wisconsin Democrats are now working on a bill to re-establish protected areas in our state.
