MILWAUKEE, WI - Today Senator Dora Drake and State Representative Russell Goodwin announced they will be introducing legislation and meeting with state lawmakers to increase technological innovation and provide crypto-currency education for entrepreneurs and small businesses at the Ambition Center MKE with notable tech experts and entrepreneurs.

“Every day new financial products and forms of cryptocurrency are circulated without the education or assistance for Wisconsinites to engage in this market or capitalize on this economic opportunity. My goal of this legislation is to increase financial literacy on cryptocurrency and support entrepreneurs and small businesses to engage in this emerging market.” said Senator Dora Drake

This bill will establish a financial services program in the Department of Financial Institutions to allow temporary testing of innovative financial products or services with an amended licensing process. This legislation will also require the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to conduct a pilot project that includes:

  1. Education to Wisconsinites on Cryptocurrency

  2. Education and assistance for Wisconsin Businesses in implementing cryptocurrency as an accepted method of payment for goods and services

  3. Provide assistance to entrepreneurs in establishing or growing cryptocurrency related businesses

"Wisconsin can win together and on a global level, when Wisconsin leverages emerging technologies such as Bitcoin. We need legislation that incentivizes innovation while providing education and protection for consumers " - Christopher Perceptions, best selling author and founder of TwentyOneSociety.

"Wisconsin needs to spur the innovation economy and advance our mission of becoming the leading tech destination in the Midwest. I’m in full support."- Nadiyah Johnson, CEO of Milky Way Tech Hub.
