DURING SESSION, COMMITTEES, OR EXTERNAL MEETINGS

During Assembly session days and when representing the Assembly or Assembly District outside of the Capitol, professional business attire is required. Examples include the following: 

  • Dress shirt with a tie (blazer/sport coat/jacket is not required, but encouraged)
  • Matching pant or dress suits
  • Collared shirts
  • Blouses
  • Formal dresses and skirts 
  • Dress pants
  • Clothing should never be wrinkled, torn, or dirty

OFFICE DAYS

Business casual is the dress code for all other scenarios. Examples of business casual include, but are not limited to:

  • Dress pants 
  • Khaki pants
  • Neatly pressed shirts (collared, button-down, etc.)
  • Sweaters
  • Casual dresses and skirts 
  • Polo shirts 
  • Dress leggings
  • Dress shorts (such as golf shorts)

Sleeveless Blouses
Sleeveless blouses and dresses are acceptable on non-session and non-committee days.
Jeans
Jeans are never appropriate.
Sweatshirts/Fleece
Sweatshirts / Fleece apparel are never appropriate.
Athletic Shoes
Athletic gym shoes are never appropriate. 
Sandals
Sandals are appropriate on non-session and non-committee days. Flip flops are never appropriate.
Exercise Pants
Gym pants are never appropriate.

NOT APPROPRIATE

  • Jeans
  • Fleece apparel
  • Sweatpants
  • Exercise pants
  • Spandex
  • Tank tops
  • T-shirts (or other shirts with mottos, logos, faces, etc.)
  • Athletic gym shoes
  • Flip-flops
  • Slippers
