MADISON – Representative Loren Oldenburg (R-Viroqua) released the following statement after Governors State of the State address:
“Addressing our workforce shortage is a prime concern for the legislature. Industry partners and I have worked hard on finding a great way to invest in our youth apprenticeship programs. Assembly Bill 779 makes new investments in our current apprenticeship program and will offer a new tax credit for apprenticeship. The bill also creates a new Youth Apprenticeship Completion Award.” Said Rep. Oldenburg
“Our tax cuts introduced today are a great way to help alleviate the tax burden on hardworking Wisconsinites. The middle class tax cut provides broad-based tax relief by expanding the amount of income that is subject to income tax in the 2nd tax bracket (4.40%) while reducing the amount of income that is subject to tax in the 3rd tax bracket (5.30%) for all types of filers. This tax cut alone will provide an average tax cut of $454 per filer.”
“I look forward to continue working on addressing PFAS contamination with Assembly Bill 312 before the session concludes. This legislation is a vital step in addressing the harm these forever chemicals are doing to the environment. This bill also provides needed protection for the innocent landowners who through no fault of their own may have contamination on their property but are the not the ones responsible for the contamination.”
“I am excited for the floor session this Thursday where Assembly Bill 169 and Assembly Bill 222, of which I have authored, will be voted on. AB 169 is a necessary statute change and AB 222 is a vital new resource in our ability to combat and understand flood vulnerabilities in our state. I am proud of the historic investments we’ve made so far and look forward to what we will accomplish in the future.” Said Rep. Oldenburg.
