Representative Oldenburg’s Bill Signed Into Law: 2023 Wisconsin Act 42
MADISON – Representative Loren Oldenburg (R-Viroqua) authored Assembly Bill 133. Assembly Bill 133 was signed into law on November 6, 2023 and is now 2023 Wisconsin Act 42.
2023 Wisconsin Act 42 makes changes to the farmland preservation program to incentivize more land owners and agricultural producers to participate. These changes include increasing the farmland preservation tax credit, and decreasing the minimum required length of agreements to account for land turnover rates.
“I am pleased to see this bill officially become law” said Oldenburg, “Farmers have always been natural land stewards, and the farmland preservation program gives them an opportunity to share and learn new conservation practices with their neighbors.”
Throughout his three terms in office, Representative Oldenburg has introduced legislation to strengthen the farmland preservation program each session. “After five years of perfecting this legislation I am excited to see more land owners join the program.” said Oldenburg.
