Representative Oldenburg Announces 96th Assembly District First Responder of the Year

MADISON – Representative Loren Oldenburg (R-Viroqua) announced the 2023 - 96th Assembly District First Responder of the Year:

Every two years the 99 Assembly Representatives open nominations for each Assembly Districts First Responder of the Year award. Any first responder can be nominated for a variety of reasons such as:

  • A specific heroic action;
  • A significant professional achievement;
  • Something special they do for the community during the course of their work;
  • His or her body of work over time; and/or
  • His or her length of service.

A winner from within each assembly district will then be selected and he or she will be invited to a special recognition ceremony in the Assembly.

“After receiving numerous nominations; I am pleased to announce the 2023 - 96th Assembly District First Responder of the Year award recipient to be Jim Hackett, the Crawford County Emergency Management Director. Jim is not only the county Emergency Management Director but also a full time Sheriff’s Deputy.” Said Rep. Oldenburg

“Recipients of this award are not only hard working members of our law enforcement and emergency responders but have dealt with significant emergencies or crises in our district.” Said Rep. Oldenburg. “Jim Hackett was instrumental in responding to the historic flooding in Crawford County this past spring. Alongside working with Vernon County in organizing a safe response to the train derailment in De Soto earlier this year”.

This year’s special recognition ceremony will take place during the Assembly Floor Session today October 17th, 2023.
