Rep. Franklin Secures Major Wins for Northeast Wisconsin

MADISON – Representative Benjamin Franklin (R-De Pere) released the following statement after securing several key investments for Brown County in the 2025–27 biennial state budget:

“I was elected to work across the aisle to accomplish state policy for Wisconsinites, and this budget is a major win for Northeast Wisconsin,” said Rep. Franklin. “I will continue to work in a bipartisan fashion while ensuring I advocate for the families, workers, and retirees of the 88th Assembly District.”

Items Rep. Franklin Secured in State Budget:

•    $30 million to fund the Southern Bridge rail crossing project in East De Pere.
•    $20 million to support the expansion of the Port of Green Bay.
•    7 new assistant district attorney positions for the Brown County District Attorney’s Office.
•    $7 million in state funding for 988 Suicide & Crisis Hotline.
•    $15 million to develop preliminary plans for closing GBCI.
•    Increase in funding for County Conservation Staff.

In addition to advocating for local priorities, Rep. Franklin supported a $1.5 billion middle-class and retiree-focused tax cut, the largest state investment in special education funding, increased funding for The Office of School Safety, and improving higher education. The Assembly passed SB 45 on a bipartisan vote, 59-39 and was signed into law by Governor Evers on July 3 at 1:32 a.m as 2025 Wisconsin Act 15.

The 88th Assembly District represents portions of Brown County including the communities of Allouez, Bellevue, De Pere, Green Bay, Rockland, and Ledgeview.
