A Note from Rep. Edming

Welcome to this edition of my e-update. I appreciate you taking some time from your day to read it. This week I will share how a new law I authored is already having a positive impact on our state, as well as provide some information on how you can provide your input as the redistricting process gets underway.

There are also a number of community events coming up over the next several weeks around the 87th District. For more information on these events, you can check out the Upcoming Events Around the 87th section below.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out to me if you have any thoughts on issues before the legislature or if you need assistance with a state agency.

The Positive Impact of Camp Doctor Reforms

As I shared in an earlier e-update, I had the opportunity at the end of last month to visit North Star Camp for Boys near Hayward. During this visit, I toured the camp and met with camp owner Andy Shlensky and Dr. Bill Lisberg, one of the camp's volunteer doctors. It was great to talk with Andy and Bill about the positive impact of the new law I authored to make it easier for physicians licensed outside of Wisconsin to practice at summer camps in our state.

Andy came to me with the idea for this reform a few years ago after a conversation with Bill and it was great to see this important reform become law earlier this year. Click here or on the picture below to watch a short video from Camp North Star discussing this new law.

Draw Your District

Every ten years after the completion of the US Census the state legislature is charged with drawing new maps for legislative and congressional districts for our state. After months of delay, the Biden administration has finally released the data and we will soon begin the redistricting process. Recently, the legislature unveiled a website for members of the public to participate in the map-drawing process. Submissions will be accepted from September 1, 2021, to October 15, 2021.

For details on how the site works check out a brief video by clicking here or on the picture below. You can also view the website at drawyourdistrictwisconsin.com.

Around the 87th

Visit to NorthLakes Community Clinic

Earlier this month I had the opportunity to visit the recently expanded NorthLakes Community Clinic in Hayward and learn more about the services that they and other community health centers in our state provide. I was also honored to be presented the Community Health Center State Grant Champion award for my support of funding of community health centers in the most recent state budget.

Athens Fair

Had a great time this past weekend at the Athens Fair meeting with constituents and even purchased some beautiful gladiolus for my wife and family. Thank you to everyone who came out to make this such a wonderful fair!

Sawyer County Fair

Had a great time recently at the Sawyer County Fair meeting with constituents and watching the Poor Man's Demolition Derby. Thank you to everyone who came out to make this such a wonderful fair!

Upcoming Events Around the 87th

One of my favorite parts about serving as your state representative is getting out and interacting with constituents at many of the wonderful community events across the 87th District. Check out some of the upcoming events around the district below. Also, if you know of any other events, please contact my office and let me know, so I can include them in a future e-update and try to attend myself.

Stay Up to Date

One of the best ways to stay up to date with what is going on in Madison is to sign up for the legislature's notification tracking service. This service allows you to follow legislative activity in Madison. Once you create a free account you can sign up to receive notifications about specific bills or committees as well as legislative activity pertaining to a subject area (i.e. agriculture, veterans). You can sign up for this service at notify.legis.wisconsin.gov.
