Rep. Donovan Votes for Historic Improvements to Shared Revenue and Milwaukee

Madison – Yesterday, Representative Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) gave a statement following the Floor Session in the Capitol. The Assembly passed Assembly Bill 245 which dramatically reforms how shared revenue is allocated to local municipalities. Rep. Donovan said:

“It really is remarkable to stand here as a member of the Assembly today. I spent plenty of years as an Alderman in Milwaukee advocating for shared revenue. Today, I had the honor to vote yes on that very proposal I once fought for on the other side. How often does that get to happen?”

“I’ve been incredibly blessed to be a part of a historic moment. There are so many individuals that have contributed to this proposal – almost too many to count. To be honest with you, I always thought no one had the stones to sit down and develop a meaningful plan. Until now of course.”

“I’m proud of the fact I have always stood up for what I believed was in the best interest of my constituents. This plan makes every municipality in Wisconsin a winner and I hope my constituents see that as well. I often hear that people want government to work for them. This is a prime example of elected leaders doing the necessary hard work to find tangible solutions to a pressing issue. That should be a celebrated by everyone as a win for all Wisconsinites.”

The amended version of Assembly Bill 245 now heads to the State Senate for a vote.
