Rep. Donovan Votes for Historic 2023-2024 Biennial Budget
Madison – Representative Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) gave a statement following the Assembly floor session. The Assembly passed Assembly Bill 43 or the Wisconsin 2023-2024 biennial budget. This historic budget was headlined by unprecedented tax cuts and education funding.
“For my first state budget in the Assembly, it has truly been an incredible process. This budget has been crafted to deliver investments in key areas while responsibly using one-time funding,” said Rep. Donovan. “Taxpayers should be proud to know that their elected leaders delivered meaningful results in the form of services and the return of taxpayer money back to the people.”
This budget prioritizes Wisconsinites be returning $4.4 billion back to taxpayers –$3.5 billion in income taxes, $600 million in property taxes, and the elimination of the personal property tax. Heavy investments in our children’s education were included which amounted to over $1 billion with targeted funds for mental health and literacy – key areas of concerns.
“This next generation of children is the future of Wisconsin. It is our duty to ensure that they are prepared and ready to lead our state. This early investment in our children’s future will only pay dividends,” said Rep. Donovan. “This budget has the ability to deliver real results across the state that we can all be proud of.”
