Bipartisan Shared Revenue Legislation Signed into Law
Madison – Today, Representative Bob Donovan (R-Greenfield) gave a statement following news that Governor Evers had signed Assembly Bill 245, now 2023 Wisconsin Act 12, into law. This legislation is a historic change in how shared revenue is allocated to local municipalities and ensures a prosperous future for Wisconsin.
“People want government to work for them. People want government to deliver basic and adequate services with their hard earned tax dollars,” said Rep. Donovan. “Today, I believe we can say that we did in fact deliver for the people of Wisconsin.”
This legislation will provide at least a 20 percent increase to most municipalities statewide. In the 84th Assembly District, municipalities can expect to see large increases in aid: Village of Greendale (148%), Village of Hales Corners (190%), City of Greenfield (100%), and City of Milwaukee (10% or $21.7million).
“I’ve been incredibly fortunate to be a small cog in this historic legislation – being a tireless advocate to prioritize public safety again. I want to thank everyone that was involved and came together to craft this legislation. I hope that one day future generations can look back to today and appreciate this historic opportunity,” said Rep. Donovan. “I couldn’t be more pleased that I finally got my birthday wish of a deal with Milwaukee on shared revenue.”
