Representative Subeck Appointed to Legislative Council Study Committee on Access to Civil Legal Services

June 24, 2016

MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) has been selected and approved by the Joint Legislative Council to serve on the Legislative Council Study Committee on Access to Civil Legal Services.

“Some of the most effective bi-partisan legislation has come out of discussion and expertise of legislative study committees,” said Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison). “I am looking forward to working with fellow legislators and legal experts to address the issue of access to civil legal services in Wisconsin.”

The Study Committee will be tasked with reviewing the funding and delivery of legal services for civil cases and the need for legal services by civil litigants. The study committee will also be identifying additional non-GPR sources of revenue to provide civil legal services, and review the current operations.

“All Wisconsinites deserve access to quality counsel when in court be that for a criminal or a civil dispute,” said Rep. Subeck. “It is my hope this committee will recommend policy solutions for the legislature that will ensure all Wisconsinites have access to legal services and representation for civil cases in Wisconsin. “
