Representative Lisa Subeck Statement on State of the Tribes Address

MADISON – Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) released the following statement upon conclusion of the 17th annual Wisconsin State of the Tribes address given by Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa Indians President John Johnson, Sr. today at the Wisconsin State Capitol.

“The State of the Tribes Address provides an opportunity to strengthen the relationship between Wisconsin’s sovereign tribal nations and state leaders. Together, we share much common ground, and I welcome the chance to work together on policies and issues of shared interest.

Thank you to President Johnson for delivering this year’s State of the Tribes address and highlighting the impact Wisconsin’s tribal members and nations have on Wisconsin. Tribal members have made significant recent contributions to our state by serving in our nation’s military, driving economic development, and ensuring a strong response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

I look forward to working with tribal leaders to find more ways to cooperate and collaborate on issues that are of concern to us all.”
