Representative Lisa Subeck Joins Governor Evers for Equitable Recovery Grant Program

MADISON – Today, Representative Lisa Subeck (D-Madison) joined Governor Tony Evers to present a grant of $350,000 through the Equitable Recovery Grant Program to Rebalanced-Life Wellness Association. The grant will provide support to the organization’s Perry Family Free Clinic which is set to open in late February on the southwest side of Madison in the 78th Assembly District. The Equitable Recovery Grant Program is providing $82 million in funding to support community based organizations working to increase equity and eliminate disparities in communities disproportionately affected by the pandemic throughout the state.

The Perry Family Free Clinic is committed to providing health care to black men in Dane County and the surrounding area. Rebalanced-Life Wellness Association currently provides health screening and education services through its Men’s Health and Education Center located inside Madison’s largest black barbershop, JP Hair Design. The new Perry Family Free Clinic will enable the organization, working in partnership with SSM Health, to offer expanded primary care health services to a largely underinsured population.

“Thank you to Aaron Perry, Rebalanced Life Wellness, and SSM Health for their commitment to providing healthcare for uninsured and underinsured black men. Their approach of meeting black men where they are, building relationships, and connecting them with preventative health care is exactly what our community needs. I am thrilled that the State of Wisconsin is supporting their efforts and look forward to continued expansion and replication of their innovative program model.”

Representative Lisa Subeck has represented the 78th Assembly District since 2015 and serves as vice-chair of the Assembly Democratic Caucus.
